A Serbian satellite — by the people of Serbia, for the people of Serbia

Serbia has always looked up. Nikola Tesla, born in Smiljan, imagined power and signals sent wirelessly across the planet; Mihajlo Pupin, from Idvor, made long-distance telephony possible and taught generations of engineers at Columbia University; Milutin Milanković read the history of Earth's climate in the geometry of its orbit, and today craters on the Moon and Mars bear his name. VASIONA wants to carry that legacy into orbit.

The idea is simple: a small 3U CubeSat, built with Serbian universities and engineers and funded directly by the people who will use what it sees. From orbit it would watch over farmland, rivers and forests, giving early warning of floods, fires and drought, and putting real space data in the hands of Serbian students and scientists.

This is an initiative of national pride — a project that will put Serbia in orbit, in the service of science, education and the public good. Every contribution brings a Serbian-made satellite one step closer to the sky that Tesla and Pupin once dreamed of.
